Statue created - 1661-1662
According to sources the statue was originally placed on the "Palace entrance", on 26 September 1662.

Sculptor - Lazzaro Morelli
Bartolomeo Cennini, who joined him on the work received final payment for the statue in March 1633.

Height - 3.1 m. (10ft 4in) travertine. 
It has stylistic comparisons with St Agnes (23) and St Catherine (44). Mark is represented in the act of writing the Gospel.  His symbol the lion, is at his right foot.

He is the purported author of the Gospel of Mark, after becoming St Peter's interpreter. Mark founded the Church of Alexandria.
